SCAL and Wall Decor

Here is a layout where I utilised the SCAL program with Cricut cartridge Wall Decor and more.
Firstly I drew a frame and the swirls, which I then scanned. I then opened up SCAL and imported the image I just had scanned in.
I then cut the flowers, hinges, title etc, from wall decode and more. I used a plastic sheet to ensure the smaller frame cut would remain strong and also to create the window effect. the frame and titled were paint dark brown then once dried I stippled  over the lop with gold paint.

Glimmer mist was used to make the flowers sparkle.

For the week 9 challenge I am going to utilise the gypsy and the welding tool to recreate a similar layout as SCAL is no longer available for purchase. I love the Art Philosophy cartridge as it has so many cuts to choose from, from frames to beautiful 3D flowers.

Sneak peak

Last weekend I started a project, actually make that 2, at Mandy's place from Scrappy Go Lucky. One was a mini album for challenge 8 of Strut your cuts and the other was to cut out every single box from Tags, bags and boxes 2. As usual this ended up taking on a whole new life of its own not to mention gave me a realisation that I need more time if I am going to commence projects that are bigger than Ben Hur.
I am not sure when the mini album will be up on the SGL blog as I have experienced a few technical difficulties with trying to post it there. But here is a sneak peak of a couple of pages.

And here is the sneak peak of 3/4 of the different boxes you can cut with Tags, Bags and Boxes 2.
Hope you all have a great week
Happy Scrappin!!!

Sport and Harmony week

My youngest son had to make a poster for school regarding sport. Luckily I had the cricut cartridge sports mania. Here is what my creative boy came up with.

When it comes to school projects and helping out the after school care, the cricut is worth its wait in gold for me. With that said I am off to cut out 40 Easter baskets from Tags, bags and boxes 2 for the After School care group.

Strut your cuts - week 7

This week I do not have any of the cartridges listed so I utilised the gyspy preloaded cartridges. They have some great features and the different layers available are definitely a scrapbookers dream.

My friends adore there three dogs ("children") - Charlie, Sally and Pippa. So with one of my friends having a birthday and not quite sure what to get, I opted for the heartfelt centimental gift by scrapbookking their beloved dogs, which I will admit are extremely adorable.

Gypsy wanderings was mostly used with this layout, with some lettering cut from Gypsy font. This was a very simply technique page this week as I wanted to see what I could do if I limited myself to just the basics. The hardest part of this lay out for me was coming up with the 10 treasured things the dogs love about their owners, keeping in mind their different personalities.
I welded the border together which I used from gyspy wandering so it would fit the twelve inch page. Normally I would consider using glossy clear ascents but as it was going into a frame I did not want to risk the chance that in years to come with the temperature changes that it would end up sicking to the glass.

The End result was that my friend loved their gift as it showed off their treasured 4 legged children.

Hope you get some inspiration from this and if you have a gyspy you have to check out gyspy wanderings and the different layers.

Happy Scrappin!!!

Strut your cuts - Week 6

This week was a great week for me to scrapbook my cleaning frenzy day in my kitchen. Using only cricut cartridge From My Kitchen. I can honestly say doing the double page layout was a lot more fine and less time consuming then cleaning out my kitchen.

I started off by tearing and bending some pattern paper which I then inked the edges of. Using Sew easy tools and a gel pen I created the three lines that went across the page and one curvie line on the other page.

Using the tab and frame from page 59 I created the journal card. I then cut the circle from page  68 and then the rooster wing x7 from page 77.

I then ink the edges of the rooster wings and the circle. To give a bit more charactor I crumple the circle and bent the wings a little.

I sanded around the photos a little and then mounted them on card stock. The main title is from page 28. I used smooch on these titles so they would stand out more.

Store was cut from page 57 and the tag from page 29. I made a slight mistake when inking this card so I have trimed it a bit on one side and the inked again. The photo mounts of the mess I created in my kitchen were distressed. My son thought it would be funny to capture a photo of me with my head stuck in the cupboard cleaning.

I cut the utensils and pans from pages 37, 38, 39, 43, 44 & 45. I then coloured these with my copics and used smooch so they would be shinny.

Lastly using the pieces that were left over from the frame I attached and then put bling in their centres and ribbon at the base.

Hope you are enjoying the weekly strut your cuts as much as I am.

From my kitchen - sneak peak

Here is just a sneak peak on what I am working for week 6 as I have 4 out of the 5 cartridges.

I had a ribbon spindal lying around so I thought what better way to make a different kind of desk photo display

Using the tags on pages 28, 29 & 30 I cut from plain and patterned card stock which I then put through the zutter machine.

I then place the spine of this book over the spindal and screwed the top back on.

By doing this you can rotate them around easily and view the different images that will be in there.

Stay tuned during the week as I will upload my progress on this.

Happy scrappin !!!
